George Clooney
Jennifer Brown
Meet George Clooney, a handsome senior rescue pup with plenty of pep in his step! This charming boy loves romping with friends at doggie daycare, catchin rays, and heading out for long, leisurely walks. And, of course, he’s always ready for a tasty treat.
About a year ago, we discovered a few small, fingertip-sized lumps on George’s abdomen. We surgically had the lumps removed & Biopsies confirmed they were mast cell tumors, which prompted us to start monthly lump checks. A year later, we noticed sudden irritation and swelling in his scrotal area. A visit to the local Animal Cancer Center revealed a mast cell tumor there—a shock, especially since he is neutered. Further testing showed that the cancer has metastasized to his inguinal lymph nodes, with potential involvement in his sublumbar lymph nodes and spleen.
While surgery isn’t an option, we started chemotherapy two weeks ago. George is handling the treatment well and remains in high spirits, so we are taking things one day at a time. It’s been an emotional rollercoaster, but we are hopeful that his condition stabilizes so he can continue enjoying visiting his favorite neighborhood coffee spots, enjoying plenty of tasty treats, belly rubs and quality time with us. We are so grateful for his care team, and we cannot stress enough how important it is to monitor your pets for any physical or behavioral changes no matter their age.
