In September 2025,Leia was biopsied and then diagnosed with Oral squamous cell carcinoma after discovering a growth on the right side of her tongue. After a referral to Blue Pearl in Pittsburgh, we did additional testing, and prepared her and ourselves for oral surgery on November 4th, 2025! After having a large portion of her tongue removed during that surgery, she still has full function to eat, drink, and give kisses again to her favorite humans! She is a cancer warrior, and showed a strength that I never knew she had!
