Mason is a 10 year old American Bulldog, I’ve had him since we was 7 weeks old. He is my first dog and has been the best friend a girl could ask for for these past 10 years.
In April of 2025 we took Mason into the vet for a lump on his arm and 2 small bumps on his hind legs. He was diagnosed with a sarcoma and lymphoma. I was devastated. My husband found a great oncologist-Dr.Hamilton-who was able to get Mason in quickly for a consultation. We decided to try chemo therapy for 16 weeks and while it wasn’t easy for us or Mason, he was in remission within a few weeks, finished all rounds of chemo, and is still in remission today. Thanks to Dr. Hamilton we have been able to have more time with our guy and Mason is thriving! Mason has never liked the vet so I was very nervous about having to to bring him every week for treatment and then every month for a check up after that but he’s been getting used to them and has been doing great. He took all of the chemo like a champ with minimal side effects and most days he still runs around like a puppy!
We are very lucky that we were able to catch this as usually there are no symptoms with lymphoma until it has spread. I hope to spread awareness so more people know what signs to look for in their dogs to get them checked out earlier. I also hope that more research can be done as this is a horrible thing that many of our babies deal with. I also want to recognize the vets that specialize in oncology, it is truly amazing that there are such great treatment options out there and that they put so much time and care into it. We will forever be grateful for this extra time we’ve had with Mason, our tough little guy!!
