Mackenzie
Kim Cotham
Mackenzie was a rescue; a determined beagle/chihuahua mix (along with nearly a dozen more breeds) with a big personality and the heart of a lion. She was smart and fearless, graduating from basic obedience classes and earning her AKC farm dog certification. Her real passion, though, was eradicating varmints on the farm — snakes, moles and mice were hunted relentlessly with glee. She was diagnosed with an inoperable tumor on her kidney in 2025 when she was 11 1/2 years old. Follow-up x-rays and ultrasounds showed no growth, which was hopeful! But a few months later she developed a cough, and the vet discovered a mass in her lungs. Mackenzie passed on July 8, 2026, at 12 years old.
