Miakoda

Miakoda was my heart dog. It often felt like she read my mind. She loved doing anything we did together. She became an AKC Grand Champion before she was 2 years old. She titled in agility, obedience, rally, barn hunt, and scentwork. Whatever we did she would excell at it. She retired from agility at 10, but we kept doing other activities that were less physically demanding. Just after her 12th birthday we competed in a CPE speedway trial and I noted that she was moving slower than normal. Over the next two weeks she just did not seem to be herself, but it was nothing I could put my finger on. I took her to the vet thinking my vet was going to tell me she was just aging. Instead she shattered my world when she report the results from a CT scan showed that my wonderful girl had advanced stage pancreatic cancer and there was nothing we could do but keep her comfortable. Five days later her pancreas ruptured we raced with her to the ER knowing we had to end her pain. I miss my beautiful girl so very much. She was one of a kind and every night before I go to sleep I send my love to her at the rainbow bridge and promise her we will be together again. Although Miakoda was slower than usual at the last Speedway trial we participated in, her big smile at the end of each run is etched indelibly in my heart.
