Willow
Jeremy Fischer
Willow’s spirit was always done with a little bit of humor. From the way she ran crooked – which earned her the affectionate nickname “land hippo”, to the slightly cross-eyed look she would give you when we told her no. As if to say, “let me consider that”. But in reality she was a silent warrior. And left a lasting legacy for her two sisters and brother; one of monthly preventative checks. She developed a polyp on her hind end in October 2025. We had it removed and it was benign. What we didn’t know at the time is that those can be harbingers to more severe internal issues. And we didn’t know about monthly checking. We tragically lost her in February of 2026 when she finally began showing us signs of pain and stopped eating – which we thought was a tooth issue. We learned otherwise. It was an aggressive cancer that was inoperable. We had just enough time to say good-bye. Now, we check from nose to tail every 14th. Please do so as well! Our beloved “land hippo” will thank you.
